Atlas Pack Flat Bindings- DIY Replacement Kit – Mountain Soles and Outdoor Threads (2024)

Description

Please see our instructions page to see what is involved in the installation of this kit.

The current batch of the Pack Flat Bindings we have available have adjustment straps that are RED (not yellow as shown in the pictures).

Sizing: These bindings come in two sizes.

Large/ Men’s- fits approximately men’s size 8 to 14 (a size 13 snowboard boots will be a tight fit). 2/28/24: VERY limited size Large in stock

Small/ Women’s- fits approximately women’s sizes 5-11 (a size 10 snowboard boots will be a tight fit).

Are your bindings cracked or have they crumbled into many small pieces? This is what you are looking for! The Pack Flat bindings are used on several of Atlas’s high-end back country models. This is a great binding/crampon package for general all-around use and the straps fit a very wide size range of footwear.
We also like these bindings because the adjustment straps are ‘field replaceable’ meaning that in the future, if you have an adjustment strap break, you can replace the adjustment straps (as long as Atlas produces them) without the need to ship your snowshoes in for a repair or drill out rivets. The Pack Flat bindings are not compatible with crampons on older snowshoes which is why this package includes new crampons.

These Pack Flat bindings are a great replacement binding for most Atlas models going back to the 1990’s including:

  • 7 Series/ Recreational Series- 721, 725, 730, 733
  • 8 Series- 821, 825, 830, 833
  • 9 Series-
  • 10 Series- 1022, 1025, 1030, 1033, 1044
  • 12 Series- 1222, 1225, 1230, 1233
  • Snowshoes marked with “SLS” on the toe cord.
  • Altas models co-branded with Liberty Mountain Sports and Cabela’s.
  • Atlas models with Indy 500, Indy 500 Plus/Max on the footbed/crampon.

This kit includes one pair of Atlas Pack Flat Bindings with heel straps, 8 bolts, 8 nuts, 8 washers, 2 stainless steel crampons, and 2 base plates and instructions. For most folks this kit will provide everything needed to replace old cracked bindings. These are a ‘one size fits most’ binding and are originally designed to handle larger/bulky boots like snowboarding boots. The straps on the

Will these bindings work on your snowshoes? You need to have existing bindings that rotate on one of the two strap configurations shown below. The new bindings and crampons will mount to these straps. These straps (called toe cords) are are typically very long lasting and robust. If your toe cord is significantly damaged (like enlarged holes) this DIY kit may not work and you may need to have the toe cords replaced (not a DIY project).

Don’t know which model you have? Take a look at the rubberized strap (toe cord) that connects the frame to the crampon/binding. These straps frequently have numbers imprinted on them. The number on that strap will be your model number. Some old styles won’t have anything imprinted on the toe cords, but in most cases, Pack Flat bindings will work.

See a short video which shows how to put the Pack Flat bindings on. Please note in this video that we mistakenly put a right foot into a left binding. Bindings are marked with L and R which correspond to each foot.

Estimated time to install: 30-40 minutes if your bindings are held on with aluminum blind rivets. Possibly longer if your bindings are held on with steel tubular rivets. Do your best not to overheat the rivets when drilling them out of you might melt the toe cords.

Please see our instructions page for DIY installation.

Tools you will need: Drill, new 1/4″ drill bit, WD40 or another cutting lubricant (for drilling out rivets), a Phillips head screw driver and a 3/8″ wrench or adjustable crescent wrench.

Please note: Our inventory changes from season to season and the colors of the bindings we have in stock may vary from what is shown in this item description. We can’t guarantee what color bindings you will receive.

We are not able to offer installation assistance via phone or email. If you find that installing this DIY kit is beyond your abilities, we suggest that you enlist the help of your local ski shop.
